SLAYER-DISCOGRAFIA

Slayer es una banda de heavy metal creada a principios de los 80s, 90s y 00s y precursora del auge de ese genero.

En 1983 se ponía a la venta "Show No Mercy", el primer LP de la banda que a la postre se convertiría en abanderada de un nuevo estilo que estaba surgiendo en esos años en EE.UU., el Thrash Metal, Slayer junto a Metallica, Overkill, Anthrax, Megadeth o Exodus, trajeron aires nuevos para el Heavy Metal, endureciendolo y dotandolo de más fuerza, rapidez y, por que no decirlo, también violencia. La popularidad de Slayer crecía por momentos desde su formación en 1981 y este "Show No Mercy" fue el primero de una serie de grandes Lp's que convirteron a Slayer en el grupo estandarte del Thrash Metal, gracias también a sus conciertos, brutales como ninguno y repletos de himnos. Bien es cierto que la obra cumbre de Slayer ha sido y será "Reign In Blood" (1986) pero este primer Lp muestra a unos Slayer en plena forma y practicando un estilo más heavy y menos thrasher, aunque ya desde el inicio con "Evil Has No Boundaries" se aprecia que Slayer no son un grupo de Heavy Metal más, sino que su sonido iba más allá en dureza y agresividad todo esto acompañado con una letras relacionadas con el satanismo y temas oscuros en general y con una estética que concordaba con todo lo dicho. "The Antichrist" y "Die By The Sword" son los siguientes en sonar ,temas dinámicos y donde Tom Araya (bajo y voz) da el máximo con agudos incluidos, estos temas han permanecido en el repertorio de Slayer a lo largo de toda su carrera y aparecieron el "Live:Decade Of Agression" (1991) su famoso doble Lp en directo, estas canciopnes junto a "Black Magic" se han convertido en himnos que cualquier fan de Slayer conoce y hace imprescindible la escucha de este Lp, sin desmerecer canciones como "Crionics", "Tormentor", "Show No Mercy" o "Final Command" que terminan por redondear este magnífico album, y es que en poco más de media hora Slayer dejan claro que había nacido para ser los reyes del Thrash Metal como quedaría corroborado con sus siguientes Lp's:Hell Awaits (1985), Reign In Blood (1986) y South Of Heaven (1988), llegando al punto alto de su carrera en 1990 con Season In The Abbys, último Lp con la formación original, recientemente reunida.
